Global steel output up 6.3% y/y in August

Global crude steel production for the 67 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) increased by 6.3% year-on-year to 143.6-million tonnes in August. China’s crude steel output increased by 8.7% year-on-year to 74.6-million tonnes, while India’s output increased by 4.1% year-on-year to 8.5-million tonnes. Japan’s crude steel production, however, decreased by 2% to 8.7-million tonnes.
