Global steel production reaches 410Mt in Q1By:Creamer Media Contributing Editor Online STEEL – 2 South Africa produced an estimated 1.56-million tonnes of steel in the first quarter of the year, the World Steel Association (worldsteel) said in a recent note. This was roughly the same as the 1.54-million tonnes produced in the first quarter of 2016 and came on the back of flat year-on-year production in March of 539 000 t.
