The operations of AngloGold Ashanti remain conflict-free as of December 31, 2023, the gold miner states in its ‘Conflict-Free Gold Report 2023’ on May 31, emphasising that it extracts gold in a manner that does not fuel conflict. AngloGold follows guidelines of the World Gold Council’s Conflict-Free Gold Standard at all of the operations where it has direct control, including in Brazil, Argentina, Australia, Tanzania, Ghana and Guinea.

South African original design manufacturer electronics company Etion Create (part of Reunert Applied Electronics) has announced that its VF370 3U OpenVPX single board computer (SBC) module has been rated at Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 9. TRL 9 is the highest technology maturity rating. “It has been many years in the making, but Etion Create’s embedded products like our VF370 3U OpenVPX SBC and the widely used CM120 COM Express Type 10 module, both Intel powered, are proving their mettle,” highlighted company business development executive manager Tobie van Loggerenberg. “It is testament to our design and manufacturing capability that the VF370 module has been selected by global defence company Saab for their Integrated Defensive Aids Suite, the IDAS-310, launched last year.”
Hydrogen symbol Nel spin-off company Cavendish Hydrogen applies for listing in Norway

Cavendish Hydrogen, which is being spun out of Norwegian fuel cell company Nel’s fuelling division, has applied for its shares to be listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange. The spin-off and listing are still subject to satisfaction of certain conditions, including approval by the stock exchange and the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway.
Marula CEO Jason Brewer Marula signs offtake agreement with Fujax for Larisoro manganese

AQSE-listed Marula Mining has signed a sales and offtake agreement with UK-based commodities trading group Fujax for manganese ore production from the Larisoro manganese mine in Samburu, Kenya. The agreement is for an initial 2 000 t of manganese ore, which is to be delivered by no later than July 1.
Katoro prioritised Tanzania project development in 2023

Aim-listed Katoro Gold prioritised resource development at its Haneti project, in Tanzania, during the year ended December 31, 2023, owing to it being mindful of funding constraints. Early in the year, Katoro successfully raised £150 000 (gross), which was used for ongoing working capital and to conclude the project assessment process.

Quebec iron-ore miner Champion Iron has reported a robust revenue and net income performance for the year ended March 31, 2024. Despite facing challenges due to lower selling prices and logistical issues, the company achieved significant financial growth. The ASX- and TSX-listed company announced a 9% increase in revenue, reaching C$1.5-billion in the 12 months through to March. Net income grew by 17% to C200-million.
