Indonesia to issue copper export permits for Freeport, Amman

ndonesia will issue copper concentrate export permits for miner Freeport Indonesia and Amman Mineral Internasional, a trade ministry official said on Friday, ensuring that exports by both companies would not be disrupted. Freeport's and Amman's current export permits expire on Friday.

Quebec iron-ore miner Champion Iron has reported a robust revenue and net income performance for the year ended March 31, 2024. Despite facing challenges due to lower selling prices and logistical issues, the company achieved significant financial growth. The ASX- and TSX-listed company announced a 9% increase in revenue, reaching C$1.5-billion in the 12 months through to March. Net income grew by 17% to C200-million.
Probe raises C$15m for exploration

Exploration and development company Probe Gold has announced a C$15-million bought-deal private placement to fund exploration and development at Canadian projects. The Toronto-listed firm will offer 2.07-million non-flow-through shares at C$1.21 each for C$2.5-million and 6.31-million shares at C$1.98 a share for C$12.5-million.

Australia's Queensland state will ban carbon capture and storage in a giant aquifer that spans much of its territory, the state government said on Friday, after an outcry from farmers who said such projects could poison their water supply. The decision closes one route to decarbonisation in Queensland, which aims to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 75% from 2005 levels by 2035 and achieve net zero by 2050.

In April, sustainable technologies solutions provider Metso launched a productised version of its FIT in-plant, and Foresight, overland conveyors for reliable material transportation in the mining industry. The high-capacity Metso Foresight overland conveyors are fixed or relocatable, connecting the primary crushing station with a coarse-ore stockpile; while the Metso FIT in-plant conveyors are compatible with Metso’s FIT crushing plants that are designed for the most demanding mining applications.
