New Mineral Resources Minister Mosebenzi Zwane last week undertook his maiden mine visit as a member of the Cabinet. His choice was to call on the Doornkop gold mine, west of Johannesburg. Shadowing the Minister in this picture is Graham Briggs, the CEO of Harmony Gold, which owns the historic Doornkop that occupies an area where the botched Jameson Raid on Paul Kruger's Transvaal Republic ended nearly 120 years ago. In his first public appearance since his surprise appointment last month, Zwane undertook what the media described as a lengthy and detailed underground visit.
