Weather hampers Mozambique coal operations

Brazilian mining major Vale has reported that its biggest coal operation, Moatize in the Tete province of Mozambique, was hit by unusually heavy rains during the first quarter (1Q) of this year, cutting output in comparison with that for the last quarter of last year. This was stated in the group’s 1Q15 Production Report. Even so, Moatize set a new production record for a first quarter.
