Mining contractor Thiess has been awarded a $760-million contract to operate diversified miner Glencore’s Mt Owen coal mine, in New South Wales.
Thiess owner CIMIC Group said on Monday that the agreement extended Thiess’ 20-year involvement in the mine, during which time the contractor had built the mine infrastructure and assumed responsibility for mining operations.
