The government of South Sudan has initiated talks with India to revive oil blocks closed in the wake of a civil war in 2013. During preliminary discussions between government representatives of the two countries, South Sudan offered compensation to ONGC Videsh, the overseas arm of India’s oil and gas exploration and production major, ONGC, for the period that the blocks were closed.
