International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General (DG) Yukiya Amano has appointed South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa) CEO Phumzile Tshelane to the Standing Advisory Group on Nuclear Energy (SAGNE). Tshelane will serve as a member of the Group for two years. The Group provides advice to the IAEA DG on nuclear energy technical and policy issues. These cover the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear waste technology as well as nuclear power itself. It also advises on issues regarding the place of nuclear energy in the development of sustainable energy.
