BOARD CHANGES
Mark Barnes has been appointed CEO of the South African Post Office (SAPO), effective January 15, 2016, following Cabinet approval. Barnes was recommended by the SAPO board following its recruitment process and would be in the position for five years. “This appointment will help us address one of the two main challenges faced by SAPO, that of creating leadership stability. This stable leadership will help the board implement the strategic turnaround plan that was approved by Cabinet in June. “In August, Cabinet approved the appointment of the current board. I believe the board is capable and needs an equally capable management team to turn the post office around,” said Telecommunications and Postal Services Minister Dr Siyabonga Cwele.
