PERSPECTIVES
Hancock Prospecting chairperson Gina Rinehart is seen addressing the International Mining and Resources Conference in Melbourne, Australia. The remote operations centre of her new Roy Hill iron-ore mine, located near Perth airport, is able to control drills and trucks thousands of kilometres away in the Pilbara. The mine’s Asian partners – South Korean steel company Posco, Japanese company Marubeni and Taiwan's China Steel Corporation – will take more than half of Roy Hill’s output for the life of the mine. Production is expected to begin next year.
