Glencore receives planning approval for NSW coal optimisation project

Mining giant Glencore has welcomed a decision by the New South Wales Planning Assessment Commission (PAC) to approve the Bulga optimisation project. The Bulga coal project currently produces at a rate of six-million tonnes a year from an opencut operation, although under the current allowance, the mine could extract some 12.2-million tonnes run-of-mine coal a year.
