Gold Fields’ South Deep mine will be smaller than initially planned for at least the next three years as the company focuses on keeping it profitable, CEO Nick Holland said Tuesday. Last year, the Johannesburg-based company dropped a target for South Deep to produce 650 000 oz to 700 000 oz by 2017 after years of technical problems.
