Shortly after having taken the reins of the national solar water heater (SWH) programme from State-owned power utility Eskom, the Department of Energy (DoE) on Thursday announced its plans to revitalise the stalled industry. Eskom exited the SWH rebate programme, which had been under way since 2008, with the DoE taking responsibility, effective February 1, for any future funding and the continuation of the programme.
