UK-based Marula Mining lists on A2X in South Africa

UK-based battery metals miner Marula Mining has announced that it will undertake a secondary listing of its shares on South Africa’s A2X Markets exchange, with shares due to become available for trade from April 25. The company’s primary listing on the Acquis Stock Exchange remains unaffected by the listing on A2X.
US restricts drilling and mining in Alaska wilderness, angering state leaders

The Biden administration on Friday took steps to limit both oil and gas drilling and mining in Alaska, angering state officials who said the restrictions will cost jobs and make the US reliant on foreign resources. The measures are aligned with President Joe Biden's efforts to rein in oil and gas activities on public lands and conserve 30% of US lands and waters to combat climate change.
Vizsla, Universal conclude merger

Canadian mineral exploration and development companies Vizsla Copper and Universal Copper have completed a merger arrangement whereby Vizsla acquired 100% of the issued and outstanding common shares in the capital of Universal in exchange for the issuance of 0.23 common shares in the capital of Vizsla to shareholders of Universal in exchange for each Universal share. Also, Universal’s outstanding stock options were exchanged for options of Vizsla, and Universal’s outstanding warrants became exercisable to acquire Vizsla shares, in amounts and at exercise prices adjusted in accordance with the exchange ratio.
Sierra records 36% y/y increase in first-quarter copper production

For the first quarter of this year, TSX-listed copper producer Sierra Metals has recorded a 36% year-on-year increase in consolidated copper production of 11.2-million pounds from its two underground mines in South America, the Yauricocha polymetallic mine, in Peru, and the copper-producing Bolivar mine, in Mexico. Silver production was also up 10% year-on-year, while gold production increased by 19% and lead production by 10%.
Xanadu engages Bacchus Capital as strategic, project funding adviser

ASX- and TSX-listed exploration company Xanadu Mines has engaged financial consultant Bacchus Capital Advisers as its strategic and project funding adviser in relation to the Kharmagtai copper/gold project, in the South Gobi region of Mongolia. Xanadu is executing a prefeasibility study (PFS) at Kharmagtai – a 50:50 joint venture with Zijin Mining Group.
Codelco eyeing more output, not competition with BHP, Chile's mining minister says

Chile's State-run copper miner Codelco must focus on boosting its production, but it has a global prestige that would not be tarnished if it cedes its role as Chile's top producer to rival BHP, Mining Minister Aurora Williams said on Thursday. Codelco, the world's largest copper producer and a symbol of national pride, is aiming this year to reverse two years of falling production in a bid to not only boost profits but also buttress Chile's sway over global markets.

Mini-substations, transformers supplied to DRC

With its experience in Africa and its agility in executing projects rapidly, electrical equipment supplier Trafo Power Solutions is supplying three mini-substations and two transformers to a copper/zinc mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Trafo Power Solutions MD David Claassen states that the “pressure was on” from early in the planning stages to ensure this critical equipment was available on time – to facilitate the continued mine expansion.

Driller foresees revenue boost with strong order book

Boring and drilling services provider Master Drilling is optimistic its revenue for this year will improve on the back of a strong order book, the company reported during its 2023 full-year results presentation, held last month. Master Drilling COO Roelof Swanepoel reported that the company’s order book was currently confirmed at $168-million with a further $90-million awaiting adjudication.
