ASX-listed Challenger Gold has placed an additional A$4-million to a single investor at 8.5c a share for an one-for-one option exercisable at 14c a share. The investor approached the company and requested the opportunity to co-invest with Eduardo Elsztain’s group on the same terms.

ASX-listed Spartan Resources on Thursday unveiled an A$80-million fully underwritten equity raising to accelerate exploration and development of the Dalgaranga gold project, in the Murchison district of Western Australia. Dalgaranga produced about 70 000 oz of gold in the 2022 financial year, before being placed on care-and-maintenance in November 2022 to implement an operational reset designed to preserve the value of its extensive infrastructure and resource base while developing a new, sustainable operating plan.

Police have named Air Canada employees among the suspects in the theft of 6 600 gold bars from a cargo facility at the country’s busiest airport, in what’s been dubbed Canada’s largest-ever gold heist. Police in Peel Region, a Toronto suburb, identified nine individuals they believe were involved in the crime and have arrested five men and issued nationwide warrants for three others. The alleged driver of the five-ton truck that hauled away the huge shipment of gold and banknotes is in custody in the US, a police detective said.

Aim- and ASX-listed Jubilee Metals has achieved record production levels at its South African chrome operations, both on monthly output for March and for the quarter ended March 31 – which is the third quarter of the company’s 2024 financial year. Chrome output of 408 710 t in the quarter compares with the 381 114 t of chrome produced in the second quarter of the year.
