Flying Nickel unveils inaugural PGMs resource at Manitoba project

Vancouver-based Flying Nickel has announced an inaugural 405 020 oz measured and indicated mineral resource at its Minago nickel and platinum group metals (PGMs) project in Manitoba’s Thompson nickel belt.   The mineral resource estimate (MRE), prepared by Mercator Geological Services, includes a total measured and indicated mineral resource of 125 700 oz of platinum, 279 330 oz of palladium and 689.53-million pounds of nickel.

China will build more coal mines in its push for higher domestic supply and to tame price increases, according to the National Development and Reform Commission. The world’s biggest coal producer and consumer set targets to add about 300 million tons of annual mining capacity for “emergency storage reserves” by 2030, the top economic planner said in a policy paper released Friday.

TSX-V-listed Premier American Uranium (PUR) has announced a private placement to raise at least C$5-million, strengthening its balance sheet at a time when uranium fundamentals are robust. The company, which is exploring and developing two projects in the US, has entered into an agreement with Red Cloud Securities to act as lead agent and sole bookrunner with PI Financial acting as co-agent for a placement of up to 2.04-million receipts at C$2.45 each.

Shares of Peabody Energy slumped after the biggest US coal miner warned that first-quarter sales will be lower than expected due to production issues at mines in Australia and weak demand in the US. The company expects to report revenue of $980-million for the quarter, according to a statement Thursday. Analysts had been expecting revenue of $1.03-billion for the current period. The shares fell 6.4% before the start of regular trading in New York.
MDPMI provisional report to be published in October

The provisional report for the Media and Digital Platforms Market Inquiry (MDPMI) is expected to be published in October, the Competition Commission announced following the conclusion of the nearly month-long public hearings. The Competition Commission held the hybrid public hearings from March 4 to March 27 to obtain input from stakeholders, including media associations, academics, print and broadcast media, community media, digital platforms, ad brokers and advertising technology (AdTech) service providers, on its probe into the distribution of media content on digital platforms operating in South Africa and the AdTech service providers.

The refurbishment of the Rooiwal wastewater treatment works and the upgrade of the Klipdrift water treatment works in Hammanskraal is well underway, with Water and Sanitation Minister Senzo Mchunu committing to ensure the success of the projects. The Rooiwal wastewater treatment works is being refurbished to enable its performance at optimum capacity, while the Klipdrift water treatment works is being upgraded from 42 to 92 mega litres per day

Gold touched a fresh record as Israel prepared for a strike by Iran or its proxies, and traders mulled the latest US economic data. Bullion climbed as much as 1% to $2 395.48 in early Asia hours. Israel is preparing for an assault in the next two days, in retaliation for its strike on Iran’s diplomatic compound in Syria last week, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a person familiar with the matter.
Winsome discovers new lithium zone outside Adina resource

Australia-listed Winsome Resources has discovered a new zone of high-grade mineralisation about 200 m outside the current 59-million-tonne resource at its Adina project, opening up the potential scale of its lithium deposit in Quebec. Results from AD-24-170, drilled to the south-west of Adina Main, have returned a result of 61.5 m at 1.62% lithium oxide (Li20),  including 24 m at 2.82% Li2O.
