State-owned freight logistics utility Transnet reports that Werksmans Attorneys has been appointed to oversee a board-level probe into allegations of corruption relating to its purchase of locomotives for China South Rail (CSR). Opposition party the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) recently laid criminal charges against current and former Transnet executives, as well as Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, in relation to the procurement of 554 electric locomotives from CSR across three contracts.
