Sept global steel production up 6.1% y/y

Global crude steel production for September increased 6.1% year-on-year to 133-million tonnes. The World Steel Association (worldsteel) reported that China’s crude steel production increased 11% year-on-year to 65.4-million tonnes in September, while Japan’s output of 9.3-million tons represented a 5.5% year-on-year increase. South Korea’s steel production, however, fell by 8.7% year-on-year to 5.2-million tonnes.
