Murray & Roberts Cementation To Develop Booysendal South Central Complex

Murray & Roberts Cementation has been awarded the Phase 1 contract for the establishment of a new mine for Northam Platinum. The Booysendal South Central Complex will be established on the same mining lease as Booysendal Platinum Mine, which is situated in Mpumalanga. Allan Widlake, new business executive at Murray & Roberts Cementation, says that the contract, due to start in April 2017, is to develop an access decline system which will be established in Phase 1 of the project. Significantly, trackless mining methods will be employed on the access development with load-haul-dumper tramming used to remove the waste rock and ore until the conveyor systems are established and commissioned.
