South Africa’s official unemployment rate decreased marginally by 0.4 of a percentage point to 27.1% in the final three months of 2018, Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) reported on Tuesday. The Quarterly Labour Force Survey (QLFS) indicates the number of employed people increased by 149 000 to 16.5-million in the fourth quarter, while the number of unemployed people declined by 70 000 to 6.1-million people, compared with the third quarter.
